After
6 Years Babe's Says GoodBye to Softball World for the 2009 Season
In the blink of an eye, years of SBW records
and standings were wiped clean and the website replaced, but the memories
will always be intact. Bad umpires, rocky infields, playing in the
most miserable wet conditions, dramatic loses and comebacks, drama,
the bitter rivalries, the drunken heckling, an indefinite Kickball
ban, and one division trophy.
It's a sad day in Northeast Ohio and it will
be an even sadder day when SBW eventually gets turned into a cemetery
(Morbid as it may be I call dibs on the plot of land in RC on Field
#2).
In 2009 Babe's has no plans to move to SBW's
more expensive replacement - Ohio Sports Park in North Ridgeville.
It looks like Babe's will finally make the anticipated move over to
Strongsville where no entry fees, better officiating, and hopefully
greener pastures await.
Does this mean Coach Nick gets a second chance
at playing Kickball at Ohio Sports Park? I think we can all agree that
is it better for him to stay retired.
Babe's
Advances to the Championship Game But Parishes to Scorekeepers in
4 Innings Creating an Unfitting End to the Year
On a night full of misty rain, haziness and missing
key players Babe's plays tough against Post and Beam dropping them
17-10 but runs out of gas versus Scorekeepers in the Championship game.
In arguably their worst loss of the year, Babe's
goes down 18-3 in 4 innings creating a bitter end to their triumphant
year complemented by a Spring I-B Division Championship.
Rain
Cancels the Last Week of Babe's Regular Season to Skip Right to the
Playoffs
There are 3 words to describe this game and Team
America: red, white and boo. Contrary to their last meeting, Babe's
bats struggle allowing Team America to play through 7 innings. Babe's
hopes to find momentum going into the final stretch of the season.
Let's face it West Park Station makes R&B
look good. In fact they didn't even want to show up to face Babe's
and they
almost didn't. Can you blame them?
Babe's
Limits Their Chances of Defending Their Friday Night Coed Division I-B
Title by Losing 9-7 versus Scorekeepers
Reason #532 why Babe's should move to Strongsville
next year: Softball World has the worst umpires. This week Blue mind
as well have been wearing a Scorekeepers jersey.
There was no late inning heroics this week, as
Babe's stalls in the top of the 7th and falls only a couple runs short
of taking over first place against their bitter rival Scorekeepers.
Are you kidding me?? Babe's rallies back from
being down 10-0 to finally beat the cocky, ringer filled McCollough
Tax.
Down 18-15 with 2 outs and bases loaded in the
bottom of the 7th, Pops comes back from missing last week to hit the
game winning walk-off inside-the-park gland slam home run to steal
the victory over McCollough Tax. This game was arguably the best come
back
of all
time in Babe's history.
In a rare chain of events, Babe's had to play
without their starting pitcher and without a 5th girl. Despite being
in a gun fight with a sling shot, Babe's gave Post & Beam a run
for their money showing Post & Beam if they had everything in place
they would have most likely taken the victory. Considering the circumstances
this loss was definitely a tough one to swallow.
Babe's
Completes Back-to-Back Shutouts Destroying Team America 28-0
How
can you possibly say anything bad about a new team that is patriotic
enough to call themselves Team America? When the captain plays in flag
pants, and all of the players have patriotic sayings written on their
shirts. Who knows this team could grow to become the next IDS. If that
is the case they sure have a lot of growing to do because Babe's completely
owned them in a 28-0 beat down. Babe's iron man pitcher and solid defense
only allowed 2 hits in the game. Only 2 hits? Come on Team America,
after all softball is America's pastime.
Babe's
lets Carinvores Get the Best of Them Once Again Falling 7-6 in the Spring
Season Playoffs
Babe's come up 1 run short again to the Carnivores
to keep their all-time Saturday win total at 0, to crush their hopes
of winning their first playoffs tournament trophy and to end their
division winning spring season.
Babe's
Annihilates West Park Station 31-0 to Open their Defending I-B
Division Title Summer Season
Facing probably their most weakest opponent
ever, Babe's completely destroys West Park Station to start the Summer
Season
off strong.
BABE'S BRINGS
HOME THE SPRING 2008 FRIDAY NIGHT COED DIVISION I-B CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
6 years, 4 sponsors, countless bad
umpire calls, many short comings and a lot of tough battles Babe's
comes out on top the standings in the Friday Night Coed Division I-B
to bring home their first division championship trophy.
And to make it even sweeter it came at the Carnivores
expense.
Babe's
Finishes the Spring 2008 Season 7-2 After Pre-Gamers Take a Knee and
Forfeit in Babe's Final Game of the Season
Babe's
did what they needed to do to have a chance at the spring Coed Division
I-B Title. Their fate now lies in
the hands
of the dreadful Carnivores.

Babe's
Finally Defeats Scorekeepers 8-3 and Wards Off a Possible Upset Versus
FC Towers 12-11 to Make a Run at the Division Title in their Doubleheader...
Battling the muggy heat, dusty wind gusts, the
blazing sun, a team they have never beaten before, overconfidence,
intoxication, fatigue and a team that had nothing to lose, Babe's comes
away with 2 big wins to turn the table in their favor in the battle
for the Coed I-B Division title.
Domination, intimidation, obliteration, or whatever
similar adjective you want to use. The lucky 13th meeting between the
2 Parma forces was more like batting practice for Babe's.
It is thanks to R&B not asking Coach Nick
to play on their team that sparked him to build his own team. Parma
only has room for one dominating force. That is why there can only
be one.
Babe's
Loses 2 in a Row After Getting Smoked by McCollough Tax 23-12 in 5
Falling to .500
Could it be the new digs? Coach Nick out of town?
Key players being rusty from taking a week off? Rain outs? Half the
opposing team consisting of players from the 5-0 Scorekeepers?
Whatever the case may be, Babe's is a no excuse
team. If they want to win the division or make the playoffs they need
to over come these obstacles.
Babe's
Gets Caught with their Pants Down Versus the Carinvores, Losing 12-11
in the Bottom of the 7th
Missing 4 key players, Babe's falls short of
getting the victory over the pesty Carnivores. It will go down as one
of the those games that they wish they had back. The former frogs are
now 0-4 versus the Carnivores in the last 4 games they have played
against them.
The
Rain Slows Babe's Momentum Going into Week 4
Babe's
Shows that they are Bad News for the Bad News Bears by Dominating
12-2
In their last game as Froggy's, the former
frogs dominated the Bad News Bears who had beaten them in the Championship
game last spring and in 2 other meetings. The Bad News Bears didn't
even knew what hit them.

Froggy's
Takes Season Opener Versus Ortho Pros 15-8
This win marks Froggy's 9 win in a row versus
Ortho Pros dating back to 2004. As always the Ortho Pros put up a
4 inning fight and then let go. They should just take a knee before
the next match-up.
